In Nelson County (which is west of Charlottesville VA) is the Stoney Creek Golf Club located at the base of Wintergreen Mt. Resort.  Wintergreen is a very popular neighborhood for several reasons.  Wintergreen Mt. Resort at the top of the mountains offers a warm friendly clubhouse, skiing with breathtaking views, shops, dining, and many opportunities to own or rent vacation homes or condos.  But before you begin the climb up the mountain to Wintergreen Resort, you will pass the adjacent community of Stoney Creek.

 

Stoney Creek is nestled in the foothills of Wintergreen Mountain.  It’s a community centered around a wonderful golf course, tennis, and clubhouse.  Many homes at Stoney Creek are year-round permanent homes, often for what we affectionately call our “pre-tirees”…. those active adults who are fortunate enough to live anywhere and they choose Nelson County.

 

There’s a wide variety of homes at Stoney Creek.  Some are large estate homes, many border the golf course, some are tucked into the wooded foothills, and others take advantage of the smaller level lots.  There are condos and townhouses too.

Next we will be creating a link to information about the charming town of Nellysford that serves these areas.  Nellysford is quite tiny … in the 2010 census it had just over 1000 residents.  But the town is long on charisma.  You can find all the necessities of life, including a quaint restaurant aptly named “Basic Necessities”.  You can get pizza and burgers, but don’t pass up the chance to sample authentic Virginia barbeque at “The Pig”.  (you can’t miss it; it’s not fancy and there’s a giant pig on their sign).   In addition to all of the outdoor sports available, the area has a good share of arts and crafts, vineyards, breweries and cideries, so enjoy your time prowling around the area.
