Retire To Charlottesville VA
There are so many reasons to retire to Charlottesville VA. To begin with we could talk about the natural beauty of the Central Virginia countryside. And in this beautiful countryside you can enjoy just about any outdoor activity that you can think of such as hiking, cycling, kyaaking, canoeing, horseback riding, foxhunting, tennis, running, birding, gardening, and of course, playing the many excellent golf courses.
Music is also very much a part of the community from local bands, free music at Fridays After Five, to classical and chamber music. There is also a vibrant art and theater community. The University of Virginia offers a lifelong opportunity to learn and has a Citizens Scholar program.
As we get older access to health care is a crucial consideration and Charlottesville excells in this area as well with two excellent hospitals from which to choose.
The various University of Virginia sports teams provide 10 months of sports action every year.
I realize that after living for most of my life, I bring a certain prejudice to this conversation, but it is backed up by the many accolades that Charlottesville has achieved:
Frommer’s “America’s Best Place To Live”
Relocate America – Best Place To Relocate
Money – 100 Best Places To Live
Kiplinger – Number One City For Retirement
AARP – Top 10 Healthiest Places To Retire
Blace Enterprise – Best Places To Retire
Golf Digest – Best Retirement City For Golfers
So as you can see, don’t just take my word for it, Charlottesville is a great place to retire!
